foreign institutes and scientists. Any potential joint research work regarding the study of the SCS is encouraged.
4. Summary
The KEEP program will be in its third phase starting next year. We plan to expend our study area further north to study the impact of the outflow of Yangze river on the ECS. This program is willing to cooperate with mainland China, Korea and Japan who also have research programs studying the northern ECS. To effectively exchange the data between nations may provide a great understanding of the entire ECS.
Although the first phase of our national research in the SCS was only for 3 years, the long monitoring program could be established soon. In order to improve the forecast capability, the Weather Central Bureau of Taiwan is considering to maintain the three ATLAS buoys after the SCS research program. The collected data from these buoys and the buoys deployed in TRIANGLE program could be supplemental of each other. We would like to exchange the data with the JAMSTEC in a regular basis.
